COMMERCIAL / INDUSTRIAL
Commercial and Industrial work has been at the centre of the growth of James Ellis Architecture. Projects have taken me to various locations around South Africa and to African countries such as Zambia, DRC, Nigeria, Lesotho and Botswana as well as consulting in Italy and England.
The projects have varied from administrative centres to plant buildings within power plants to workshops and mining facilities.
POWER PLANT
NIGERIA
I designed and provided construction details for this office building as well as another 4 buildings in this facility. I also travelled to the UK to meet the clients’ consultants and to site in Nigeria to see the site and check and report on construction progress.

SOUTH AFRICA
I designed and provided construction details for this building as well as an electrical building in this facility. I also attended the regular site meetings and inspected and reported on construction progress.
KINGSLEY OFFICE PARK
SANDTON
I ran this project on behalf of MWLF International Architects. It is an A Grade Office park in Sandton comprising 3 x 2000m2 flexible space buildings with basements below and central cores, enabling multi tenanted spaces on each level.
This was the first commercial building that I project managed as well as designed. I benefited from assistance from the directors and assistants of MWLF.

This building was to provide a security entrance for the facility that would provide adequate weather cover and facilitate the security processes that people would go through upon entering the facility.
